Lina: Witches Of The Moon
This project is an entry for Krystman's Basic Shmup Showcase event, which revolves around the amazing shmup tutorial series for the fantasy console: PICO-8.
Controls:
Movement -> WASD, Arrows, Joystick
Shooting -> C, PS X
Frog Bombs -> x, PS O
There is an Ingame tutorial to help you along! To exit it, return to the main Tutorial scene and fly forward!
Story:
Lina, among many others, is an avarage witch living in the forest. But one night everything changes as those who were once friends turned into enemies.
Fight through the horde of summons, beat hypnotized witches and figure out who is behind all this.
Pickups:
There are number of shooting patterns in the game, some focus on single target, some on whole screen dps, find what suits you best!
- Health Potions will keep you safe along the journey.
- Super Star grants temporary invincibility and ramming powers!
- Force Shields grant you the ability to bounce enemy bullets back, but they don't offer melee protection!
- Frog Bombs help you clear the screen of enemy bullets and release a powerfull bullet wave!
Sour Cream:
Sour Cream will follow you along, lagging behind a bit and helping out with the pesky enemies. You attack patterns do not modify his, but with proper positioning he can be a helpful companion on the journey!
Enemies:
Enemy minions attack in waves! Don't spare none of them, charge your Mana Burst, generate Frog Bombs and tear through the opposition!
You will encounter their respective witch master at every 6th level!
Some enemies use tricky patterns against you, be on your guard!

Wow you've really changed up the shooting. Very cool very chaotic I love it.
I’m really glad you liked it! Was afraid that the new more “bullet-hell” like feel of the game doesn’t ruin it, but personally I enjoyed it, so it was left in!
The game is neat! The update made it more fun but also a bit easier. Before I couldn't get passed the dragons yet and now I cleared it on my first run.

At the moment, not really. The zips are the exported binaries of the game. There is a .p8 file included so if you want you could use PICO-8 to load in the project and export assets that way.
Generally my uploads are binaries for offline play on various devices and if people happen to like them, I’m open to uploading a seperate tileset project, which can be bought. (Like I did it with clock mage, and the void break tileset).
Just to add, because I don’t want to “scam you”, on the lexaloffle site you can grab the .p8 free, as it is how their platform work.
Only pay here for that if you feel like supporting my work :)
